Ingredients

  • 2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour plus more for dusting
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder to help the bagels rise
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt for flavor
  • 2 cups plain nonfat Greek yogurt the star ingredient for a moist dough
  • 1 each egg beaten, for brushing on top

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Mixing bowl
  • Rolling Pin
  • Baking sheet
  • Pastry brush

Method

  1. Gather all your ingredients. Make sure your Greek yogurt is at room temperature for easier mixing.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and kosher salt. Stir until well combined.
  3. Add the Greek yogurt and mix until a dough starts to form. It may be sticky.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Knead for about 2-3 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Divide the dough into 6 equal portions. Roll each into a ball and poke a hole in the center to form a bagel shape.
  6. Preheat your air fryer to 320°F (160°C) for even cooking.
  7. Place the shaped bagels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with the beaten egg.
  8. Transfer the bagels to the air fryer basket in a single layer. Air fry for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Let the bagels cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before serving warm with your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • Store dough in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours, covered tightly.
  • Cooked bagels can be stored at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • Freeze cooked bagels for up to a month; reheat in the air fryer.
